Yeah! a new addition to the blogging circle.. check out the vaginamonologue when you have a chance... lots of thoughts, will respond when i have a chance
Night before the last exam, its been a long two weeks...at the same time, i can't believe its almost done. Sometimes when I'm in my exam rut, the world around seems to fade away. But on Monday morning, something hit me that left me in a bit of a state of shock.
So on Monday morning I was taking my time, having breakfast before going to my Anaesthesia exam, when a friend I haven't heard from a while messaged me. It was just chatting until I was asked to find another mutual friend, to talk to her cos her father just died... died of SARS... got it from a patient, and her mother who is also a doctor is in the hospital recovering from SARS... and my friend, a medical student was under quarantine... I was dumbfounded and stared at the computer for 10 minutes and frantically reread my ICQ history... it wasn't possible, I remember meeting both Dr. laus, they were perfectly healthy... hearing updates about their family trips to Japan...it wasn't possible, just like my dad's death wasn't possible...
I guess that is why my friend messaged me, cos he thought i would understand...
At that point the last thing I wanted to do was write an exam on steps to do an injection, all i could think was that this was pointless... but as i walked down the stairs and saw my classmates stressed faces i knew this was something that I had to do... It was actually my friend who pointed out to me the biggest challenge of being a doctor was doing your job when your personal life and emotions are haywire... staying focused...
Things to be thankful for today:
- health
- family
- gabe's back today!
- food =)
Verse of the day: Ecclesiastes 3: 1-4
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
