It felt like that whole world was rejoicing this morning, the sun was shinning brightly, and it was Easter Sunday with Baptisms at TCBC!!!.
Congrats to Ivan, Garland and Khai Nhu. Especially to Khai Nhu, your baptism brought so many dents people today =) Khai Nhu's in 3rd year and I've seen her around the faculty but I didn't really get to know her until she showed up at TCBC in January and then joined our dents small group, (another thing I am really thankful for, more later =)) I was really encouraged by her eagerness to learn God's word and openness about her desire to seek God. I think her classmates must have all heard about her Sunday "bible class" and her leap of faith in getting baptized. Once of the best memories from today, was seeing Nora, Alex and Ashoor ecstatic to celebrate this special day with Khai Nhu; talking non stop over dim sum about the flowers in the church, the beautiful music from the choir, asking questions about the sermon, different people's roles... I was reminded how sometimes I take the little details for granted at church, and forget to admire all the blessings that are in our place of worship. Nora also asked if our sermon's are usually so lively (Nolan smashed a piggy bank =p) and Prisc replied usually at Christmas and Easter. I guess many of us hear the Easter story so many times that we diminished the enormous price Jesus paid to give us salvation.... another thing to be thankful for, no matter how forgetful I am, God's not... =p
O another memorable scene, was the four yuen sisters sitting together in the TCBC sanctuary. Connie (aka Supa) came out to visit this weekend and man was the apartment lively. =) Con is my younger sister (number two) but don't think I usually see her that way. She's definitely a good friend but also like my partner.. yeah i'm supposed to be the older sister, but for things relating to this family I always consult her. Whenever we see each other it’s a long updating sessions of how God’s been working in our lives, family and how we are to support each other. I always enjoy Connie weekends. =) My mom keeps saying she’s thankful for four daughters cos there will always be one to be with her, but I’m thankful for my 3 sisters cos each of us play a role in this family… and the big sister role is shared by Con and I =)
In fact after Connie read my blog she was like “ah that’s so cute. My sister has a thankful blog” and her friends presumed it was her younger sister =p Don’t think there is anything wrong with being like a kid… was reading Psalms 131 – Simple trust in the Lord (KJV) Sometimes wish I was more like a kid…
Well I was actually a kid tonite, the day ended in a shower storm and so when I left the library, I took of my high heels and jumped in puddles =)
Things I’m thankful today:
- Khai Nhu’s baptism
- family – esp supa
- TCBC
Verse of the day:- Simple Trust in the Lord
Lord, my heart is not haughty, Nor my eyes Lofty. Neither do I concern myself with great matters, nor with things too profound for me.
Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, Like a weaned child with his mother, Like a weaned child is my soul within me.
O Israel, hope in the Lord From this time forth and forever. Psalm 131
